Jane Newbert: All kids need deadlines. This school provides none. Even if they let your kid graduate, he won't have learned much.

former teacher: As a teacher I have never worked in such an unprofessional environment. The students are not first at Accell; the director is. I was told over and over that there was no money despite the exorbitant tuition costs required to attend this school. I spent hundreds of dollars of my own money to purchase curriculum for students. (When I left I took the curriculum with me and was accused of being a thief. Ms. Walters thought I should leave it there since I had purchased it for the school). I also brought in my own personal computer for students to use because the ones that were there were out of date and could not be used as the students needed. saw students graduating that I knew had not earned the credits required. However, these same students went on to be accepted at colleges. Later I saw receipts from the parents of these same students showing money "donated" to the school. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.LuAnn Walters is the greatest con-woman I have ever met. I fell for her "ideas" hook, line and sinker. She has some great ones and knows how to say just all the right things. However, I learned quickly that it is all just talk. She wants money. She will take any student, regardless of behavioral or learning problems, despite her teachers not having any training in these types of students. She will do anything to keep a student whose parents have money but will not work with a parent who may be struggling financially who has a bright, kind student who deserves to succeed. She calls herself a "Doctor", yet when I worked there she still did not have her bachelor's degree, let alone her Master's.

Thea Milbury: My husband experienced a sudden job change that brought our family to Minnesota from the deep south. I am sorry to say that my children, ages 10 and 7, did not thrive in any of the school settings we tried once we arrived at our new home. We tried several schools, both public and private in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. Not one school was able to welcome my children, or show any kind of sensitivity to their needs at such a traumatic time in their lives. Not only were they nervous about their new surroundings, but they were tired from crying themselves to sleep at night over missing their old home, school, and friends, in Memphis. Once I met Lu Ann, Pat, and Carianne at Accell Academy, everything fell into place. They understood how emotionally fragile my children were after such a huge change in their lives. With wisdom and compassion, they offered home school services to me, along with weekly coaching. Their holistic approach, and family-friendly methodology allowed me to comfort my little learners through the transition of moving, while Accell monitored the academic progress they were making at home under my supervision. It was the perfect fit for what we needed. If you have to relocate your family to the Minneapolis area, I would not hesitate to contact Accell Academy. They will be your family's first and most trusted new friend, whether you choose to enroll full time, part time, or utilize their coaching option.

current parent: I just need to have my voice heard regarding Accell Academy. My son is going to be starting his 3rd year in the fall. He has had a wonderful experience attending this school! His self confidence is soaring and he enjoys going to school everyday. I am wondering if the negative comments were meant for another school. The Accell we know is warm, inviting and the environment makes it a comfortable place to learn.

Former Student: The negative comments are true i went there for years. It is a scam. You dont not learn much. Lu Ann Walters is a scam artist. The school is a joke, in the bottom of a basement at a house. They screw kids over in every way possible. I could keep going and going but I do not have time. They screwed my highschool credits up and everything.

Parent: Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. My child was used for our money. His credits would not transfer to any MN public school because we were not informed that the school's legitimate accreditation was revoked and LuAnn had changed to an "accreditation" that no one has ever heard of or accepts. Shame on you LuAnn for ruining children's futures for your own personal gain.

vitoria: Lu Ann Walters made a huge difference in our lives. She has believed in my child when the public school would not. She is an angel and there must be confusion about Accell Academy. There is a public school Accel Academy. That must be the confusion. I know nothing about that school but if they are talking about Accell Academy of Minnetonka they are wrong. My child's credits are perfectly good at Minnetonka schools.

parent: Scam. The owner/doctor/director is not even a teacher. LuAnn Walters should be shut down but private schools do not have any accountability. Do your research before you allow LuAnn Walters to scam and con you out of your money. This is a pay for a degree school. No teaching, no order, no accredidation. Who would know? We are sorry that these measures were not taken to research before we wasted our time and money on the con artist. LuAnn tells you what you want to hear, sounds great but offers nothing to back it up. If you are rich and want to buy a worthless high school degree for your drop out child with behavioral problems then this is it for you! No teaching, no discipline, no homework, nothing but adult daycare for wild kids. Nobody can investigate because nobody regulates private schools. LuAnn takes advantage of desparate parents with money and does not deliver anything but a wothless degree if your child can hang in the chaos long enough to get one. Ours had to start over in a regular school - Thank God! This school does not deserve one star but 0 stars were not an option. Run parents, run away as fast as you can!(unless you want to buy your child a degree). LuAnn found a way to scam for money. That is all she cares about, money and listening to herself talk about how great she is. Run, run, run!

parent: My child attended Accell Academy, earned his high school credits legitimately, graduated, was accepted into college. Seems to me there are parents hoppin' mad because they feel scammed. It's puzzlng. My comment is not intended to minimize their pain or outrage. However, I felt the need to express a few words about our experience. Our son had no behavioral issues. He transformed while attending; his reading, writing, math skills - yes, self-confidence - increased in tangible ways - and it is still paying dividends. Back to the severe reviews ... all I can offer up is the reminder that personal attacks on a person's character is, frankly, immature and uncalled for. How about we all try to state opinions and experiences without namecalling and assumptions.

Parent: No confusion. If it smells like a duck, acts like a duck and walks like a duck IT IS A DUCK. Shame on LuAnn Walters.

Parent: well i am not sure if i should believe all those negative comments, they made me change my mind about enrolling my daughter. at least not to this school.

Teacher: Lu Ann thought teachers were the adults in the room. When students pushed my buttons she taught me to understand that was a personal development issue for me. Although I would be so angry that she identified the real problem, my maturity, she understood respect for the students, parents and the teacher. More importantly, she understood that when push comes to shove parents know the reality of their children and were honest. I definitely know I didn't like it but on looking back she helped everyone grow. Unbelievable, the insight and standard she held us all to was impeccably the highest standard I have ever been held to. I taught in public, Lu Ann's school, and now public again. If she ever would hire me back I would be there in a minute since nowhere else I have experienced expects the best like she does. The adult in the room is the teacher. Thank you Lu Ann, I finally get it. They don't teach maturity like you do in college.

Julie, former teacher: Accell took more kids off of school supported drugs than any other in the country. Accell has doctors, lawyers and an average $20,000 scholarship awarded to students from colleges. You know when students become successful and mama's babies don't it is time to sling mud.

Sherri Parent: My son received honors at his private college. Over a $20,000 scholarship for each year. The negative comments are not the norm about Accell or Lu Ann my guess it is her X-husband who couldn't hold a job. Never the less this woman is an angel. It would take a lot more than net bashing to change my mind about her. Remember the ambiguous sources.

Shirley: I can't believe the negativity regarding Lu Ann it must be a personal vendetta because I am a special ed teacher who enrolled my son. He is soaring way beyond the norm. There is only one reason... Lu Ann thinks out of the box and so does my son. Frankly, it sounds like the same person bashing her. There are countless lives she has made a difference in. Not just a difference she saved brains that the public school had trashed.
