Daphne Coulter: Our son, John attended NWLA from 3-9grade. He is dyslexic and had major reading, spelling, speaking and math issues (as he puts it - "Everything I did at school was a problem!" He is now attending Paradise Valley Community College in his second semester, studying English, Math and Art - with a view to a career in Graphic Art and Design. He is still challenged by Dyslexia but is doing well and plans on taking another English class next semester, "Because I like the program and I enjoy writing" he tells me. He certainly has the imagination and determination to do anything he really wants. Much of his success and enjoyment in learning was acquired at New Way which instilled in him a love of learning "Even if it was almost always difficult" as he wrote in an expository paragraph for his English class this semester on the subject of Dyslexia and why it makes life challenging! Thank you New Way staff and the leadership of Dawn Gutierrez for helping John and his family understand the problems and seeing the potential in John. He's on a roll now!
